I setup a twitter account for the wedding to let people know where we are and when.
You can follow it at http://twitter.com/hueynmegs
We plan to go out both Friday after the rehearsal dinner and Saturday after the reception so you should be able to hit our tweet and see where we are at any given time (hopefully,
)
For those new to twitter, you can goto twitter.com and setup an account and then follow our tweets. Once you have your account setup you can even set it up to send updates to your phone so you can know what’s going on on the go.
Well here we are again, I’m not going to bore anybody who might be reading this with the usual “this time I’m going to keep up with my blog” post that usually comes after our long absences from the blogosphere (and quite frankly I’m done with breaking the “we’re back” promises). Life is busy and I don’t know how much time I’m going to have to commit to this blog thing.
Anyway, here’s the scoop: It’s been a long year with plenty of visits from friends and family and plenty of adventures around Savannah. We are still loving the downtown Savannah living (our cars are not!). Megs and I both work from home now which is fun (and sometimes distracting) and we are enjoying it.
We have two new nephews, both as cute as can be. Megan’s brother Brad welcomed baby Zachery into the world in February and Bryan and Stacie gave birth to Gavin four days later. They are both coming along great and we are happy to have them in the family.
Dylan is still a happy lil puppy. She seems to enjoy Savannah living and we love her company as she distracts us from our day to day work every once in a while too.
I just got back from a five day trip to visit the family in Wisconsin. It was a great trip, saw more snow than I could ever imagine (scheduled my flight just right, got in before the storm, was there to help grandma and grandpa with the shoveling and got out before the next storm ran through). It was a great trip and I helped grandpa setup all of his gadgets. I love visiting the grandparents, but it makes me not want to come back to real life!
Megs and I are about to head off to Atlanta this afternoon for Christmas round 2 and to see Megan’s family and the rest of mine. It’ll be another worldwind tour of Atlanta where we try to see as many people as possible and now that we got this awkward haven’t-posted-in-a-while post out of the way hopefully we can post what we see and do.
Lata!
Here are some great shots Megs took on River Street at Forth of July this year…

Ladies and gentleman, friends and family, look out your window – pigs are flying and hell has frozen over!
This morning, after all the presents had been opened and I was surveying the mess of ribbons and bows scattered around our apartment from presents and stocking stuffers, huey suddenly said “Hey, I think there’s another one over there behind the tree.” I bent and looked and hunted, sure I’d pulled them all out. “No, it’s on the tree, over on the side… in the back.” My favorite holiday movie, The Christmas Story, immediately came to mind and I was sure he was messing me and there was going to be a Red Ryder BB gun sitting back there. Then I saw a thin ornament hanging on the tree! Yay, more presents!

Company camping trip was this past weekend! I hadn’t been camping in years… not since the last disastrous trip. It had started raining in the middle of the night and Angel and I had decided to run for the van after the chinese water torture drips from the roof of the tent started to drive us crazy. Our master plan was this… one grabbed the blankets, the other grabbed the pillows, and the first one unlocked the car while the other one zipped up the tent. Angel ran first, I counted to five and plunged out into the rain, yanking at zippers and getting soaked in the process. Next morning we woke up to a tent full of mud… someone had forgotten to zip the bottom zipper on the door and mud had leaked in and formed a 1 inch layer of nastiness at the bottom. Yuck.
Yay! We got our first Savannah Christmas tree yesterday! It was one of those gorgeous days where the weather is perfect and there was lots to do. We started out the day by getting up and walking the few blocks to Forsyth Park for the 2nd Annual Help One of Our Own Chili Festival. With just $10 and an empty stomach, we got to have our fill of some of the best local restaurants secret chili recipes! Huey and I tried each one, making up our own rating system and awarding Best in Show for different criteria. One of my favorites was from a local Martini bar and cafe, who served their chili in cone cups rimmed with sour cream dipped in shredded cheese… very clever!

Sorry it has been so long, but huey and I have been pretty busy the last few weeks. We finally got a couch for our apartment (yay!) and no longer have to sit on camping chairs to watch television. It is a great sectional chaise/sofa combo we found at RoomsToGo and it came with a hugemongous leather ottoman. It gives us both plenty of room to stretch out, and even leaves a bit of room for the puppy to cuddle with us!

So we took a little road trip this weekend (LOVE driving rental cars!) up to Atlanta because Megan and Terry were getting married! Being the wedding pros that we are at this point, we were well prepared and had a wonderful weekend.
We started out by stopping off in Henry County at Granny and Granddaddy’s house for a lovely, poolside BBQ rehearsal dinner. We were late (of course) but had an excuse since we’d driven straight up from Savannah after having to work all day. After filling our tummies and catching up with everyone on what we’d been doing in Savannah, we finally headed up to spend a well deserved evening of rest at the C.W. Peters Hotel. Accommodations were, as usual, top notch.
So I had a fun weekend up in Atlanta. I’ve only been gone since Labor Day but it’s neat to go back as an out of town visitor. I spent Thursday just hanging out with my cousins, Colleen and her husband Josh Peters, and their awesome 6 month old, Evan. He’s so precious!
Photos and more after the bump!
Just a coupla pics out the window on the plane… I was above the wing obviously, but this was the first time I think I’ve ever made the 40 min Savannah-Atlanta flight during the day. It was pretty cool.
